Through my personal artistic practice I work from Luneside Studios, where I’ve been very fortunate to be a member these past few years, having opportunities to develop valued friendships with the artistic community based there. We’ve held a few collective collaborative exhibitions in that time and I feel very proud to be connected to and work from such a wonderful place in my home town.
I’m interested in charities and local organisations working towards a non discriminatory inclusive community cohesion through a creative approach. So much can be achieved collectively and I believe that we have a personal responsibility contributing to and being part of local projects that support these sustainable ideals. I have a background in services, running mental health therapeutic art workshops with adults, as well as others in the community with children and families. A creative approach has always featured at the forefront of my work and is very important to me.
I currently work for The Good Things Collective, a community-led, grass roots, people focussed creative enterprise in the heart of Morecambe. Born of a love for the area and the people in it, it promotes arts and creativity to bring people together – boosting wellbeing, learning and enterprise. Being a stakeholder in an organisation like this is really so important to me, being part of a wonderful community of socially minded creatives with bright potential for the future.
I’m a mixed media collage artist, driven to mainly working with found or reclaimed materials, I love skip diving and get a lot out of the spontaneity in the direction it takes me. I’m particularly interested in playful narrative layouts, not taking myself too seriously, the beauty of impromptu geometry, layering, display and functionality. I’m driven artistically by the clarity of mood, the realisation processes I go through whilst creating my work and the infinite nature of creation possibilities. The idea that I am capable of perpetuating my own sustainable replenishing happiness is to me, magic itself.
